The schooner was
sold two years ago on July 15, 2013. We were sad to see her go but everything
in life has a season and it was time to turn the page on a wonderful chapter in
our lives. I still receive calls from Haiti, inquiring about my return, and I
feel pulled to return to my swashbuckling missionary ways at some point in
the future.
After
selling the schooner we went to the opposite end of the sailing spectrum and
purchased a 1992 Corsair F-27 ! It's been a blast going from a semi truck
to a porsche and it gives Ellen and me a way to quickly escape to the
Everglades for much needed downtime. A 14" draft with the rudder and centerboard
up opens an unlimited cruising opportunity in our corner of the world. I have gone
back to my seagoing career so as to ease the transition into our retirement
years in the not too distant future (read $$$). New Horizons is blessed to have
continued expansion with new leadership guiding it to new locations in SW
Florida and now into N Texas!
God is Great!!
I recently
received an email from a family that had read this blog in years past and
have purchased a sistership to Star of the Sea and are making plans to
deliver cargo to
the Old Bight
Mission Home on Cat Island, Bahamas in January. I was overjoyed to get this message,
who knows, maybe they will one day visit lle a vache!
